Upgrade Installation

Hello everyone.
If i want to upgrade my jana, which is acting as mail and proxy. what precautions should i take ?
Will it work ? If i stop the jana process and install the upgraded version.
or i have to uninstall the old one first. Install the new version and copy the jana.ini from the old installation.

As Mail.db has changed to SQLITE3 in the latest version of jana. how much that gonna affect the mail server...
Please help me upgrade my jana server hassal free..

Hi Kalu,
sorry for late answer, it looks like, anyone including me was in hospital or at snow-vacancy.

Upgrading Jana :

1. make a complete backup of the janadirectory.
2. make an extra copy of the jana.ini file on a place, where it is save.
3. login as admin and start the actuall janasetup.exe, read the remarks carefully.
There are two steps, where your used language is defined.

4. Jana will find the old installation and update all depending files.
Jana reads also the old jana.ini and update it also.

5. If something changed in the database, jana will konvert it automatically.


In case of jana is not restarting after the update, reset windows.

If jana tells trouble after that, have the saved jana.ini-file copyd into the jana-directory.
Reinstall jana again, i had this case only one time in a lot of janaupdates and it helped.

so 42 is magical number. I see.... then i tell you one thing 4+2=6. From my calculations 6, is your lucky number if my calculations are not wrong :p
