Name of the Reference SNTP server of my pc Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Hi,

I am trying to create a SNTP server in a closed network, without internet access, to synchronise all others pcs.

My doubt is what put in the"Name of the Reference sntp Server..." to put the server fecth the time of my computer. I want that one pc is the server and the others the "slaves".

Thanks for your attention,

Duarte Silva

Better explanation Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

I will try to explain better what I want to do:

I have a network with one PC and several PLCs (
Programmable logic controller - its like a pc) communicating in ethernet. When the hour (spring/Autumn) changes I need to change the hour on each PLC.

My idea was create a NTP server in my PC and all the PLCs puchase the time in the NTP Server. So in this way I have all the machines synchronized with the same time. An PLC needs one ip to get the time, that ip needs to be the SNTP server.

I have doubts in the configuration, because my network is closed and I dont have access to internet. If I had internet I had to configure the SNTP server parameter "Name of the Reference sntp Server..." with the address of one internet time server. In Jana you give the example of the german time server ok?

But in a close network I want that the Janaserver have the time that I set manually on the pc. I want that the reference of the SNTP time Server be the time of the operating system windows, picking the time on the operating system.

With this I set the time that I want on the local pc and the remaining machines get the same time.
When I introduce/modify the ip of the SNTP server, its always maintains that new ip and the 127.0.0.1. It should not be just one ip? The new one? How can I see that the SNTP server is working right?

If I ping the address ip of an SNTP server it should response when his ok?

I hope that all of you understand my problem.

Best Regards,

Duarte
