FTP Authentication
Hi, I've just had to re-set-up my config following a disk crash - lots of fun!
I have a Linux Server hosting a shared network drive to which I would like to give some users FTP access.
When they type in the address, I expected the browser / ftp-client to ask for a username and/or password but it just goes ahead with an anonymous login. This is not the behaviour I had set-up on my last Jana installation which I find strange as I thought I was using the same settings.
So, my question is: how can I ban anonymous logins to the FTP service and get the users browsers to automatically request a Username and Password?
I'm still really loving Jana Server - there simply is nothing better that covers all the useful stuff at once like your super little suite does. Keep up the good work!
JB
Hi Buggrit,
in janaadmin, go to servertypes->ftp-Server.
On the bottom of the page you have to add new ftp-user.
Give this user access to the needed drive:directory, a name and a password.
Have in mind, that only local disks are useable, mapped networkdrives are experimental.
greetings peter
